Steak sandwich

We stuff this vegan steak sandwich with grilled vegetables. The homemade vegan cheese sauce completes this delicious dish. Enjoy!

What you need for 2 portions:

  • 2 packages of the Vegafit Steak
  • 4 slices of bread, coarsely cut
  • 1 red onion
  • ½ courgette
  • ½ cucumber
  • ½ aubergine
  • 1 handfuls of spinach
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 5 tbsp flour
  • 300-500 ml vegetable milk
  • 5 tbsp nutritional yeast flakes
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • Extra coconut oil for frying

Preparation method:

  1. Cut the onion into rings. Take half the cucumber, courgette and aubergine and cut them into long, thin slices.
  2. Grill the red onion, slices of courgette and aubergine in the grill pan. Set the cucumber aside.
  3. Place a frying pan over medium heat and fry the Vegafit steak until golden brown.
  4. In the meantime, make the cheese sauce. Heat 2 tbsp coconut oil in a saucepan and add the flour, stirring well until the lumps have dissolved. Then add the noble yeast flakes and stir. Pour in the vegetable milk and stir until the sauce begins to bind. Finish off with the salt and pepper.
  5. Spread the pieces of bread with the sauce and then place the cucumber and steak on top.
  6. Top with the grilled vegetables, onion and spinach.
